ABOUT THIS JOURNEY

Overview

Experience a professionally modernised 5 Nights / 6 Days Elephant Safari in India package centred on Jim Corbett National Park and the surrounding Corbett Tiger Reserve landscape. The historic version of this tour featured repeated elephant-back safaris; the current base package instead focuses on responsible wildlife viewing through authorised jeep, canter and registered forest vehicles, with opportunities to observe wild Asiatic elephants, deer, crocodilians, rich birdlife and, with luck, Bengal tiger or leopard. Travel from Delhi to Ramnagar/Corbett, explore the Kosi and Ramganga river environments, enter confirmed safari zones, and spend selected nights in an approved forest lodge in the Dhikala/Gairal landscape when permits and rooms are available. A Sonanadi-side wildlife experience can also be included subject to current access rules. Any government-authorised elephant ride, if legally available at the time of travel and specifically requested, is treated as an optional add-on rather than part of the base package. All safaris, forest-lodge stays, zones, wildlife sightings and activities remain subject to permits, weather, seasonal schedules and forest-department regulations.

YOUR JOURNEY, DAY BY DAY

Day-wise Itinerary

Day 1Delhi to Corbett u2013 Arrival & Kosi Nature Experience+

Leave Delhi in the morning and drive toward Ramnagar and Jim Corbett National Park. On arrival, check in at the selected wildlife resort and relax after the road journey. Later, enjoy a guided nature experience along an approved stretch near the Kosi River or another permitted area outside restricted core habitat, with opportunities for birdwatching and an introduction to Corbettu2019s flora, fauna and conservation landscape. Return to the resort for dinner and an overnight stay near Corbett.

Day 2Corbett Safari & Dhikala/Gairal Forest Landscape+

Begin early with an authorised jeep or canter safari in the confirmed Corbett tourism zone, subject to permits and forest timings. Search the sal forests, grasslands and riverine habitats for wild elephants, deer, crocodilians, birds and, with luck, tiger or leopard. Later proceed through the authorised forest transport system toward the Dhikala/Gairal landscape when a night-stay permit is confirmed, enjoying views of the Ramganga River and open chaurs along the way. Check in at the approved forest lodge or equivalent authorised accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3Dhikala & Gairal Wildlife Exploration+

Wake before sunrise for another authorised wildlife-viewing session in the Dhikala/Gairal sector according to the confirmed zone and vehicle arrangement. The open grasslands and river edges are excellent places to look for herds of wild Asiatic elephants, sambar, chital, hog deer, gharial, raptors and other forest species. Return to the lodge for breakfast and rest before an additional safari, birding session or approved interpretation activity in the afternoon when included in the permit plan. Overnight stay in the authorised forest lodge or approved Corbett accommodation.

Day 4Sonanadi-Side Wilderness Experience+

After breakfast, continue with the confirmed wildlife programme toward the Sonanadi side of the Corbett Tiger Reserve or another currently accessible tourism zone. Travel only by authorised safari or forest vehicle and with the required registered guide. Explore quieter forest and riverine habitats known for elephants, deer, birdlife and other wildlife, with all routes depending on seasonal access and forest-department rules. Return to the designated accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay near Corbett.

Day 5Final Corbett Safari & Return to Resort+

Start the day with a final authorised jeep or canter safari when permits are available, ideally using a different tourism zone to experience another side of the reserve. After the wildlife drive, return toward Ramnagar and check in at the selected resort. Spend the afternoon at leisure, visit an interpretation facility when operational, or enjoy birdwatching around approved resort-side habitats. Any government-authorised elephant ride, if legally operating and specifically requested, remains an optional extra and is not part of the base package. Dinner and overnight stay near Corbett.

Day 6Corbett to Delhi u2013 Departure+

After breakfast, check out from the resort and begin the private road journey back to Delhi. Depending on the onward travel schedule, transfer to the airport, railway station or independently booked hotel on arrival, concluding the Elephant Safari in India tour with a responsible vehicle-based wildlife experience focused on Corbettu2019s wild elephant and tiger habitat.
